Reflecting on 7th Grade

Posted by: | May 6, 2014 | No Comment |

When I first arrived in August, I expected to have an easy year. I thought the year would just blow by like a breeze. Well that wasn’t exactly the case and I soon realized that it wouldn’t be so easy after all. By October, I already had to do 3 projects and write an essay! My life was very busy. Everyday I would come home and do homework till like 7! I didn’t know how I would get through the year.

Eventually, I figured out that all the work gets piled on you at the beginning of the year and as the year passes on, the work is less. Also, I figured out that staying organized and time management helps you a lot! As the year passed on, I started being able to finish most of my homework in school and it helped a lot. In seventh grade, I learned that I’m pretty good at math, good at managing time, and also pretty good at Spanish. As the year comes to a close, I feel proud about how well I did in school. If I had to do it over again, I would probably try to get into student council and do more clubs. My advice to next years seventh graders is to stay organized and have good time management.

One time I was in Russia skiing on a deserted mountain. How I got up there, don’t even ask… Anyways, I was skiing and suddenly I went on a jump straight into the forest. I fell smack on the ground and my face was dripping with blood. Since I was in the middle of the forest, I decided to walk one way hoping it would lead to society. After hours of walking I decided to go to sleep.

The next day, I found myself surrounded by members of the mafia and I started to run. They muttered something in Russian and I thought they were planning how to kill me. After 10 minutes of running I was pretty tired so I sat down. To my unfortune, I was on top of a trap. A net entangled me and I was hanging from a tree just as the mafia members approached. Suddenly the oldest member pulled out a bazooka and shot me. That was the day I died…

My Favorite Poem

Posted by: | April 24, 2014 | No Comment |

I am Sam. Sam I am.
That Sam-I-am! That Sam-I-am! I do not like That Sam-I-am!
Do you like Green eggs and ham?
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
I do not like Green eggs and ham.
Would you like them Here or there?
I would not like them Here or there.
I would not like them Anywhere.
I do not like Green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
Would you like them In a house? Would you like them With a mouse?
I do not like them
In a house.
I do not like them
With a mouse.
I do not like them
Here or there.
I do not like them Anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
Would you eat them In a box? Would you eat them With a fox?
Not in a box.
Not with a fox.
Not in a house.
Not with a mouse.
I would not eat them here or there. I would not eat them anywhere.
I would not eat green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
Would you? Could you? In a car?
Eat them! Eat them! Here they are.
I would not, could not, In a car.
You may like them. You will see. You may like them In a tree!
I would not, could not in a tree.
Not in a car! You let me be.
I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I do not like them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

– Dr. Seuss

I chose this poem because I used to read it a lot when I was a kid. I remember thinking it was really clever and funny. My favorite part is the end where there is a lot of rhyming.

Media and Memory

Posted by: | April 9, 2014 | No Comment |

When I was little, I just couldn’t do without Scooby Doo. It was the best movie I had ever seen, since I was a kid. I loved Scooby Doo, the character, most of all. It had everything I wanted in a movie. Horror, comedy, you name it! I can remember sitting on the couch with a bowl of watermelon watching it intently. I wouldn’t let ANYBODY talk! I have probably watched it about 15 times! It was my favorite movie by FAR when I was a kid. Without it, summers wouldn’t have been as fun as they were with it.

Why Swimming Is Hard

Posted by: | February 10, 2014 | 2 Comments |

“I’m too tired, I can’t go anymore!” Swimming has lots of advantages, but it sure can be hard.

For starters, some people are afraid of the water and you can’t blame them. The first time I saw a pool, I was pretty scared myself because I thought I would drown. “Don’t push me!” I shrieked with terror. All in all, swimming is just plain hard.

Second of all, swimming requires lots of endurance because your body gets tired very quickly. For example, Olympic swimmers have to train very-very-very-hard to improve their endurance. I don’t think I can even do half of what they do! Whether it’s fear or endurance, swimming is a very hard sport!

Swimming is hard in many ways like fear of water or not having enough endurance. As long as you keep trying, hard things can be accomplished. Maybe I should start swimming with a buoy…

Time Travel

Posted by: | February 5, 2014 | No Comment |

Is time travel possible? I would probably say no. Think about it, if you went back before you were born and killed your mom, would you just disintegrate right there? It doesn’t make any sense how you could possibly interact with people in the past. Is there like some tape that is recording everything and when you time travel back, you are just rewinding the tape?

Also, according to “experts”, you would have to be going at the speed of light which I think is basically impossible. I know, you are probably saying that “nothing is impossible” but I think traveling at the speed of light is. I remember seeing news about how some scientists almost got some cells to go the speed of light but it still wasn’t that close. That shows how HARD it would be to get a human going the speed of light! Well I hope you enjoyed my blog post and tune in next week for another!

Super Bowl

Posted by: | January 29, 2014 | No Comment |

This Sunday is the Super Bowl! The Denver Broncos will be playing the apparently best-of-the-best team of the west, the dreadful Seattle Seahawks. This year I will be rooting for the Broncos. I really want them to win because the Seahawks are obviously not my favorite team.

Anyways, I think it will be a pretty good game considering that their records are almost the same. I am going to a party this year so that will be pretty fun… The only thing I don’t like is that there’s school the next day. They should really look into having no school the day after the Super Bowl…

Texas Longhorn Football

Posted by: | January 22, 2014 | No Comment |

This year the Longhorns were pretty terrible besides the fact that they beat Oklahoma. I like the Longhorns but I wasn’t liking Mack Brown so I’m happy he is replaced. Also now since next year David Ash will be starting instead of Case McCoy we might be better… I hope.

Christmas

Posted by: | December 10, 2013 | No Comment |

Christmas is almost here! Only 15 more days! Besides that, I think I am probably more excited for winter break. You get like 16 days off of school! This year we aren’t going anywhere so I’m not as excited as last year. Last year we went to my cousins house in Dallas and it was really fun! We played lots of games and many other things. I hope to go there next year!
